TOPOGRAPHICAL SURVEYS

VOLUME CALCULATIONS
Using GPS or total stations, we can survey any area of land or stockpile to obtain volumes. These calculations are very important for the contractors involved in large projects, where monthly reports for accounting audits are vital for smooth running of the venture.
We use AutoCad land surveying software application, to obtain volumes and cut and fill.
Our wealth of knowledge in measuring volumes, means we can provide monthly reports and spreadsheets to follow the progress of the work.
CONTROL NETWORK
Control networks are the foundation stone of a successful project and at 3D Surveys, we consistently use them, thereby providing a high degree of accuracy in every aspect of each civil engineering project.
Control networks provide the frame which supports the study, design and execution of any project. All survey work which is to be undertaken can be supported during the implementation stage using control networks in the chosen reference system. To improve its precision, the control network can be linked to a high precision levelling network.
At 3D Surveys we understand the importance of the Control Network as the main tool to ensure high precision during the measurement process and to safeguard data reliability.
MONITORING
Due to movements or deformation, sometimes it is necessary to take a constant measurement of the structure, to provide detailed information to the architects or designers, and to underpin any deviation during the construction process.
Depending on the difficulty of the project, 3D Surveys can advise you on the best solution for monitoring, by adapting the most advance technology available to meet the requirements of the job.
If required 3D Surveys Consulting can use the ATS system, to monitor large areas (tunnels, viaducts etc). Using this methodology, the data can be transferred from several total stations distributed to a central server and then stored in a database from where it is analysed.

TRACK SURVEYS
When it comes to track surveys, we believe 3D Surveys Consulting is a very experienced company as we have a vast experience working on night time conditions and short slots of time and safety restrictions where the time matters.
All our surveyors are PTS qualified and highly familiar in the railway environment as a result of working for main organizations in the rail industry throughout the UK.
We survey all aspects of railway infrastructure from S&C and busy crossings to embankments, depots, platforms and OLE structures.

TRACK MONITORING
Monitoring is carried out to check the position of the rails when any work is undertaken close to them.
Monitoring is an indicator of potential problems due to a change in the geometric position, which could lead to a compromise of the functioning of the trains.
We work with designers and engineers to provide detailed information which can demonstrate if any movement has occurred.
We work closely with our clients, adapting our methods to each project, depending on the requirements of the job.
TAMPING
A survey of the rails is done before the tamping process is carried out, and once compared against the design, the ALC data files are produced in order to feed the Plasser Tamper train.
We work closely with the tamper trains during possession time and once completed, we do the final as-built s for hand back.
SETTING OUT

SLAB TRACK
The slab track is built over a concrete track slab to minimize the cost of maintenance.
The difficulties of building a slab track comes down to the accuracy and precision in every step, as it is very complicated and expensive to rectify.
